“Rankoth Nena Piyasa”, The Elapathgama Pre-School Building in Memory of Manjula Rankothgedara, is one of the dream projects of Api Foundation team, has been handed over to all the kids in the Alapathgama village, with loads of love and smiles of bunch of beautiful kids, on 05th June, 2022.

All things considered, The source of the project idea popped-up when API Foundation visited to Elapathgama, as per the Information received from FOG (Foundation of goodness), to explore the village and community,

After all, the outcome of the need assessment carried out and overall understanding of the current on ground situation of the Alapathgama village “Api foundation” has decided to work on the education of children in the village.

Key issues identified

o Less educated community
o Underage marriages
o Lack of motivation
o Lack of educational supplies
o Lack of qualified teachers
o Existing facilities are not in good standards
o Partially constructed building
o Unavailability of a preschool within the region
o Absence of a defined base for children to motivate them in starting their schooling.

Api Foundation Sri Lanka, undertook the project to Complete the preschool building to educate under 40 kids per year in memory of Manjula Rankothgedara with support of his relatives, close friends and ex-colleagues. Providing equal opportunity and access to education for to all children and laying the Foundation of education for them to begin their primary education.
