Charity Project Distributes Food Packs During Sinhala-Tamil New Year Season
The past year has been a challenging time for many families in Sri Lanka, particularly those living in underprivileged rural areas. As the Sinhala-Tamil New Year approached, many families struggled to provide food for their loved ones. However, thanks to the “Api Negam 2023” charity project, some families in the Polpithigama area of Kurunegala District received the support they needed to celebrate the holiday season.
On April 12th, the “Api Negam 2023” team distributed food packs to families in two villages – Andagalayaya and Pothuwila – in the Polpithigama Divisional Secretarial. The team was pleased to distribute a total of 211 food packs, with 150 going to Andagalayaya and 61 to Pothuwila. The food packs contained dry rations, which will help families celebrate the Sinhala-Tamil New Year with dignity.

The “Api Negam 2023” project was launched with the aim of supporting underprivileged rural families in the Polpithigama area of Kurunegala District during the Sinhala-Tamil New Year season. The project relied on donations from individuals who wanted to make a difference in their community.
In addition, it is important to note that the “Api Negam 2023” project is not a one-time initiative, but rather an ongoing effort to support those in need. This project was first launched in 2021, and thanks to the generous and kind donors from around the world, this is now the third consecutive year of its implementation. The team behind this project is grateful to all those who have contributed in the past and continue to support this noble cause. Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged families in the Polpithigama area of Kurunegala District.

The “Api Negam 2023” project is an excellent example of how communities can come together to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. The project team hopes to continue its work in the future and help more families in underprivileged areas across Sri Lanka.
In conclusion, the “Api Negam 2023” project has made a significant difference in the lives of families in Andagalayaya and Pothuwila. The food packs distributed during the Sinhala-Tamil New Year season have brought joy and relief to families struggling during these challenging times.
